Public Peace Walk on Remembrance Day: Kitchener - Waterloo
A group from Kitchener-Waterloo held a public peace walk on Nov. 11. Led by Matthew Baily Dyck, it included members from six local Mennonite congregations as well as members from non-Mennonite churches, totaling 130 people.
Prior to the walk, an article in the Kitchener-Waterloo Record reported:
“On that day we want to fully acknowledge the pain and the loss and the incredible devastation that has been caused by warfare,” he said in an interview earlier this week. And . . . we believe remembering all of that leads to the attempt to positively promote alternatives to violence.
"So far, Bailey-Dick said, he knows of five other walks taking place in Ontario. About 60 people are expected to join the walk planned for downtown Kitchener."
