Canadian Mennonite University Students Act for Peace

Published in

One hundred Canadian Mennonite University students recently challenged the Canadian government to allot more money for foreign aid.

To demonstrate, the students raised $4,278. The student council will add to that amount for a total of $7,500 - which represents 0.7% of the total tuition paid for one year.

That percentage - 0.7% - is the portion of Canada's Gross Domestic Product then-Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson promised in 1969 that Canada would contribute to the international community. See the Winnipeg Free Press story here.
